Astley View Care Home is a landmark development for Chorley, Lancashire, marking the town’s first new care home in over a decade. Designed for Evermore Care, the project sets a new benchmark for contemporary, high-quality care by combining advanced care provision with comfort, flexibility and sustainability.
The three-storey building provides accommodation for 90 residents, with generous space standards, excellent natural light and strong connections to outdoor areas. Each floor is carefully planned to support different levels of care, prioritising accessibility, privacy and a sense of community. The ground floor forms the social heart of the home, incorporating a café, reception and a wide range of shared amenities including a cinema, hair salon, shop and ice cream parlour, all organised around a central atrium that encourages interaction and a sense of community amongst residents.
Designed to achieve BREEAM Very Good status, the building integrates renewable technologies, including photovoltaics and syphonic drainage, alongside an efficient steel frame construction. Externally, striking red brickwork and grey aluminium panelling are complemented by living green walls at the entrance, reinforcing the home’s strong environmental credentials and contemporary identity.
