Darcy House is a contemporary care home commissioned by Care Concern Group, set within the village of Darley Dale and overlooking the Derwent Valley. Designed as a high-quality new-build facility, the scheme provides 78 en-suite bedrooms and delivers residential, nursing and dementia care within a calm, luxurious environment.
The building responds directly to its stunning hillside setting, adopting a split-level arrangement of two and three storeys to maximise the breathtaking views and abundant natural light. A pedestrian bridge over a sunken garden creates a strong sense of arrival at this landmark care home. Each floor benefits from external terraces, reinforcing a close connection to the landscape.
Darcy House combines timber cladding with natural stone effect blockwork, balancing contemporary design with strong local character. Generous glazing, 3-metre-high ceilings and a generous range of both communal and private areas create a truly exceptional living environment.
The project was shortlisted for Best Exterior Design at the Healthcare Design Awards 2025, underscoring the project’s impact within the industry and our commitment to pushing the boundaries of architectural design in healthcare environments.
