Situated beside the picturesque Worcestershire canal, this new-build care home in Kidderminster takes inspiration from the area’s rich industrial heritage. The design draws on the character of historic brick buildings that line the waterfront, creating a contemporary development that feels naturally rooted in its surroundings.

The scheme provides 86 ensuite bedrooms across four floors, thoughtfully arranged to respect the local streetscape. By skilfully working with the site’s natural level changes, the building reads as three storeys from the road, ensuring a calm and cohesive presence within the neighbourhood.

A sensitive approach was essential given the site’s proximity to the canal, Limekiln Bridge, and the wider conservation area. Close collaboration with the Canal & River Trust and the Local Authority shaped a design that celebrates context through refined materials, traditional brickwork, and modern interpretations of industrial detailing.

Generous glazing connects residents to tranquil waterside views, while warm, welcoming interiors feature communal spaces, landscaped terraces, and high-quality amenities—creating a homely, uplifting environment that supports wellbeing and modern care.
